Hello, friend!
Would you like to sponsor Trick or Retreat 2026?
Now in its fifth year, Trick or Retreat is a relaxed event where folks enjoy crafts, go for little walks, and play tabletop games.
A lot of tabletop games.
In 2025, ~35 attendees brought over 150 different boardgames with them.
Some also brought TTRPGs – some to run, and some to loan to the event’s temporary library for curious folks to read.
Meanwhile, others brought armies of miniatures to paint and share.
Suffice to say, this crowd is keen on tabletop games!

The event has minimal scheduling, so folks can bring, pick up, and play whatever they like whenever they like. Some people are GMs and tabletop veterans, while others get to discover just how pretty dice can be.
Trick or Retreat has a real air of community. Cooking the meals and washing up are group affairs, with folks coordinating to give each other lifts to and from the venue. Many of the attendees have come back every year since we started, but there are always some new faces!
Trick or Retreat is running from Weds 21 – Mon 26 October, at YHA National Forest in Moira. We expect 30–40 residential attendees, plus some day visitors.
Trick or Retreat operates as a not-for-profit endeavour. The event is run by Sarah Cole (of Patchwork Fez Games), who does so on a voluntary basis.
The aspiration is to provide a relaxed, accessible, and affordable space where a diverse range of folks, especially those who are neurodivergent, can hang out, be creative, and enjoy games together.
This is the first time that Trick or Retreat is open to sponsorship. We’re looking for sponsors in order to help keep the event accessible and affordable for those who wish to attend, and to offset the rising costs of venue hire and catering.
Any excess funds raised will be put towards next year’s event, providing subsidised/free tickets for those who can’t afford to attend otherwise, and/or support for our charitable, venue YHA National Forest.
